Commonly Asked Questions

Where can you find us and our produce?

Beginning March 18th, 2023 we will be back at the YLNI's indoor farmers market each Saturday from 9am to 1pm. The indoor market is located at 1501 E Berry St. Fort Wayne, IN. And as of May 6th the market will return to its outdoor location on Barr Street between Wayne and Berry.

More information on the YLNI Farmer's Market can be found here:

https://www.ylni.org/about-the-market

Is there an online resource to help me find other NE Indiana growers and food producers?

Yes! The Northeast Indiana Local Food Network lists local food producers and businesses from 11 counties. Their online guide includes: local farms, farmers' markets, stores, artisan producers and even more. The list can be searched by business name, location, or even a specific product (like rhubarb or beef).

How do we grow our produce?

We have been a certified-organic farm previously (both in the 90's and 2000's) but have found that being certified is somewhat cost prohibitive. So we continue to uphold the certification standards of growing and sourcing materials, such as potting mix and compost, without being certified. We only use products that have been approved by the Organic Materials Research Institute (OMRI) for everything from certified seed, local compost from Ground Down, and certified organic pesticides and fungicides for pest and disease control.  We chose this style of farming because our goal is not only to grow produce. We also strive to ensure we do it in a way that is not harmful, but in fact beneficial to our soil and environment.

Where do we source our seeds and materials?

Check out our Resources page to find where we get our seeds, pots and trays, and soil amendments. Along with a handful of other websites we often refer to for farming.
